I won’t link to Politico, but this is interesting news. Apparently they want the Obama inner circle in complete control of the DNC fundraising apparatus:
Democratic insiders are taking the temperature of some top party donors about the possibility of naming White House press secretary Robert Gibbs as chairman of the Democratic National Committee heading into President Barack Obama’s reelection campaign in 2012, senior officials tell POLITICO.
Under the scenario being tested, Tim Kaine, the current DNC chairman and former governor of Virginia, would be named to a top administration post, perhaps in the Cabinet, the officials said.
Maybe they could move the whole operation to Chicago?
Then Rahm could run it out of the mayor’s office!
Read the post and immediately thought about Obama’s moving the DNC to Chicago (did that ever really happen?) — and it hit me that he’s a control freak.
Probably why he can’t stand whistleblowers and has had the DOJ initiate more federal indictments of whistleblowers than any other president. Including one from the Bush Boy years which BushCo chose to not go after!
I was listening to a discussion of Nixon on WNYC yesterday (can’t recall which program), but it included how much Nixon hated Jack Anderson and his ability to get secrets out of government. It got to the point, based on a taped interview with one of the Watergate burglars, that Nixon asked whether Anderson could be taken out. This Watergate burglar and another person spent time trying to find a suitable place for an auto accident on Anderson’s route from home to office, and they tried to find ways into his home to spike his medicines with poison.
Then, Nixon decided getting into the DNC HQ at the Watergate was more important than assassinating Anderson…and thus history changed.
Maybe Obama thought earlier Repubs had the best ideas as well, given his assassination list which included Americans and his hatred of whistleblowing.
So, is Obama a major control freak? I wonder how he would have reacted to Daniel Ellsberg’s release of the Pentagon Papers had that happened during his presidency. I’m thinking everything’s on the table….
Who was it that had that confusing post about which one was the control freak, Obama or Clinton?
