What worked for extreme Republicans

They didn’t talk to the press. They didn’t discuss policy. They stuck to their meaningless talking points, and they posed with babies and kittens.

Which explains Pat Toomey’s win.

Somewhere, Arlen Specter is smiling a bitter smile.

  1. You think Specter would have won? I was thinking Sestak actually did better than Specter would have.

I feel bad for my local state senator though.

  2. Sestak didn’t win in the middle of the state, where Arlen always did well. Hard to say how Arlen would have done, though — this was an anti-incumbent election.

  3. Good point. I was talking to someone who watched the polls yesterday — she said they got more people than they expected, but a lot of new faces.
And I’m looking at my own precinct returns — lots of straight GOP party votes. Like you said, anti-incumbent.
