  1. Bristol dresses up nicely, she’s rather pretty, BUT…she’s excriciatingly painful to watch as she tries to dance.

I saw only a little: She seemed off the beat, she was stilted, she lacked any flair whatsoever.

Please, this is making a joke of the show and it’s premise. But I guess it brings in Sarah’s fans?

  2. It’s the new sub-prime – sliced, diced, spread around the risk pool.

The top positions in state education across the US – for example, Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, recent chancellors Joel Klein (New York) and Michelle Rhee (Washington, DC), and incoming Chancellor Cathleen P Black (New York) – reflect a trust in CEO-style leadership for education management and reform. Along with these new leaders in education, billionaire entrepreneurs have also assumed roles as education saviours: Bill and Melinda Gates, and Geoffrey Canada.

What do all these professional managers and entrepreneurs have in common?

Little or no experience or expertise in education.

  3. “For hundreds of thousands of Americans, spending four years and untold amounts of money (and debt?) gets you a job as a waiter, parking lot attendant, or janitor.”
    He forgot convenience store clerk.
When I get done with school, I can go back to the three of those four career paths that I forsook, and declare financial hardship and get my payments reduced. I’ve already lost everything, so it’s not like I’m going to be buying a house or anything that needs a good credit score ever again.

  4. “It starts by debunking the myth that higher education is an indicator of success, and focus on what matters most: doing shit.”
I can do shit. I can take shit apart and put it back together again. I can build things. I can sew things. I can write things. I can take pictures of things. I can cook things, play things, raise things.

It doesn’t mean shit if there aren’t any jobs.

It doesn’t mean anything if you’ve got a doctorate in who-cares-what, if there aren’t any jobs.

The deal is, the Masters have trashed the social order, and I’m willing to bet fewer and fewer people are seeing any good reason to go back. If the ship ain’t righted soon, everybody will be all cozied up on their desert islands, and won’t want to get back on, once they’ve seen what the cost is.

    So fuck ’em.

  5. I’ve been applying for jobs. No college degree but forty years’ experience. No responses. No doubt the sorting software sorts me out.
