i think the u.s. would be happy to have mubarak out but only if the u.s. was certain that whoever came afterwards toed the right line on israel. if there’s real democracy in egypt or another dictator who better reflects the public’s view on israeli matters, then there’s no chance that egypt will, for example, continue to enforce the blockade of gaza,
