I think it has something to do with rising levels of moisture and energy in the atmosphere caused by increased evaporation of water from the oceans which in turn is being caused by releases of heat trapping compounds which are products of combustion of fossil fuels. Civilization has done a fine, fine job of de-sequestering the carbon that had previously been locked up. Venus, here we come.
