doesn’t that just mean that obama went back to the old system of not using a political litmus test for choosing US attys? they way it used to work is the senators from the district would make a recommendation and if the candidate turned out to be a competent attorney, the president would nominate him/her. president bush broke with that system when he disregarded the recommendations of democratic senators and appointed a bunch of u.s. attorneys for purely partisan reasons.
