No reason allowed

John Conyers said a very rational thing about the coal industry yesterday:

There’s a big campaign going on about how you clean coal and we want to examine that as critically and fairly as we can, but here’s the problem: I’ve been to West Virginia, and that’s about all they’ve got there.

We’ve got to work out a situation in one state of the union, there may be others, in which we come up with alternative ways of creating full employment without just putting everybody out of work.

Sounds perfectly sane, right? Go read about the resulting shitstorm.

  1. Does anyone have a way to contact Susie directly? Could all these posts be scheduled ahead of time?

This is one aspect of the blogosphere which is so…well, I guess…scary. We get to now people, usually only by their nym, and, sometimes, those people disappear from comments.

At least we know Susie’s last name (it is her real name, right?).

  2. Do you suppose that someone having a heart attack would actually be posting the event? Now that’s dedication! Of course it’s a well known fact that the NSA and CIA operates thousands of front sites manned by mechanical devices named susie.

  3. Does anyone have a way to contact Susie directly?

i tried texting her but the text didn’t go through. the cell number i had was at least a year old. it looks like she doesn’t use that number anymore.

Could all these posts be scheduled ahead of time?

yes, they could. i know susie pre-schedules and keys up video posts for periods when she knows she won’t be around the computer. maybe she does that for political posts as well. i noticed that all the posts that appeared after the 911 post only have links to pieces dated before she mentioned the possible heart attach (e.g. the “look at this shit” post links to a digby piece that was posted yesterday. so susie’s post could have been written last night)

At least we know Susie’s last name (it is her real name, right?).

yes, it is right. i do know susie in real life, though i haven’t seen her since last year (things have gotten more complicated since my son arrived). i can try to contact some mutual friends to see if they know what is up.

  4. i spoke to susie last night and she was a-ok. she had an appointment today so she’s probably just out and about.

  5. guess i should’ve read the 911 post first. anyway, i have a message into her and will keep you posted.

  6. I think they were all pre-scheduled. She often writes the majority of her posts at 5 AM and then adds more as the day goes. I have a message in as well.

  7. i’m on the phone with susie now. she is in the hospital for 23 hours, but is ok and in good spirits. they don’t know yet if she did have a heart attack, waiting on test results. it should come as no surprise that she’s gonna have some stories to tell.
