and, once again, the democrats’ opening bid in the negotiations includes all of these pre-made concessions. essentially the super-dems adopted the “compromise” hashed out by obama and boner in the debt ceiling negotiations as their first proposal, guaranteeing that if a deal is reached, it will include significant concessions beyond that.
scary as it is, our only saving grace is the GOP’s utter refusal to even consider any tax increases. that makes it likely that the parties won’t come up with a deal by the deadline, which will put the trigger and then congress will quickly pass a bill to undo the drigger before it goes into effect in january 2013. that remains the best case scenario.
