I don’t think the author is male. This sentence – “I’m not saying this as a former girl- I quite liked being a girl.” – seems to imply it was written by a woman.
Not sure who to ask, as there’s no indication who posted this, but I don’t know the blog this comes from — did the writer undergo a sex change operation? Or, as DarthVelma notes, isn’t the writer a female?

No, I screwed up. I first read about it on on Boing Boing and got confused as to gender.
