Oh dear

But but but… the Very Serious People say we need to start another war ASAP:

(Reuters) – U.N. human rights investigators have gathered testimony from casualties of Syria’s civil war and medical staff indicating that rebel forces have used the nerve agent sarin, one of the lead investigators said on Sunday.

The United Nations independent commission of inquiry on Syria has not yet seen evidence of government forces having used chemical weapons, which are banned under international law, said commission member Carla Del Ponte.

“Our investigators have been in neighboring countries interviewing victims, doctors and field hospitals and, according to their report of last week which I have seen, there are strong, concrete suspicions but not yet incontrovertible proof of the use of sarin gas, from the way the victims were treated,” Del Ponte said in an interview with Swiss-Italian television.

“This was use on the part of the opposition, the rebels, not by the government authorities,” she added, speaking in Italian.

Del Ponte, a former Swiss attorney-general who also served as prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, gave no details as to when or where sarin may have been used.

Oh, and just in case you were wondering: I heard on the news this morning that the administration may send the rebels more arms, I guess as a reward for showing such initiative. Freedom!

  1. The warmongers have exposed themselves and are no longer hidden behind the curtain. Obama (Zionist toady) has given the green light to Israel (who couldn’t wait to get blood on its hands) to bomb Syria. Whatever Hezbollah, Hamas, al Qaeda, Syria, Lebanon, Iran and others do to retaliate against U.S. and Israeli interests going forward is solely on Obama’s head. The Obama administration ended in failure the moment the first Israeli rocket was fired into Syria last wednesday night. It’s a shame that Obama has chosen to wage war rather than to pursue Peace.

  2. I suppose it is possible that chemical weapons were used accidentally; some mortar shell captured from government stocks and the rebel using it did not know that it contained nerve gas. (Nasty stuff, no matter who used it — and the area where it was used is now a serious hazardous waste site.)

Either way, I’d prefer that the US spend millions on aid to the refugees and aid guarantees to the new government than spend a dime on arms. Particularly without UN support. If we continue to sidestep the UN, the UN will just ignore the US (as perhaps they should after Iraq.)

  3. In this life all things are possible. And the truth is hard to come by. Obama and his Israeli hitmen wouldn’t know what the truth was if it hit them between the eyes. What they want is for Assad to give up and run away. If that means lying about who used chemical weapons against whom to bring the wrath of the Israeli and U.S. military against him than so be it. Russia , China and Iran will have none of it because they know what the U.S. empire and the Zionist regime of Netanyahu in Israel is up to.
