I just don’t have a sense of humor about these stories:
CORSICANA, Texas (AP) — Police say a 2-year-old boy has died after accidentally shooting himself in the head at a North Texas home while his father was nearby.
Corsicana police on Thursday identified the victim as Kinsler Davis.
Police Chief Randy Bratton says the father called 911 on Wednesday night to report the shooting. The wounded boy was transported to a Corsicana hospital and then on to a Dallas hospital where he died later Wednesday.
Bratton says the boy apparently found a handgun in a bedroom. The child’s 35-year-old father was in the walk-in closet of the bedroom at the time of the shooting.
The Republicans tell us that every single immigrant must be registered. If, however, they have a gun it need not be registered. “Yipeeeee! We’re all gonna die.”
These kinds of stories make me sick to my stomach.
I feel sorry for the father who knows he damn well put his toddler in mortal danger, but why the hell aren’t gun owners required by law in the great state of Texas to have their guns secured? At least unloaded if out of the gun locker?
I just can’t imagine the horror of being responsible for my own child being allowed to kill hmself at Age Two….
I’ve mentioned that when I moved out to NJ in the early ’80’s there were many stories in the news about kids killing kids or themselves with guns lying around their homes. BTW, even young kids investigate closed drawers…not a secure site for a gun.
Anyway, NJ passed strict gun lock up laws and the number of stories of kids killing kids with guns dropped sharply. Of course, there were screams from the gun lobby that it would take to long to find a locked up gun and load it if a bad guy broke into a house….
