Much as I love the Roseanne Cash version, the original AATW version (from their brilliant album “The Wheel”) remains my favorite.
I fell in love with Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys (“Ahh haaah!”) and AATW back in the early 70s in high school, much to the amusement of my friends, who were all boppin’ to Deep Purple or Black Sabbath (not that there was anything wrong with that). But finding a “History of Bob Wills” LP–and *loving* it– in the bargain bin was a revelation to me.
What can I say…I was a weird kid. (I’d segue into “White Light White Heat” after the Wills album.)
