This is pretty fucking unbelievable. If you have one, tear it up and send it back:
Credit card issuer Capital One isn’t shy about getting into customers’ faces. The company recently sent a contract update to cardholders that makes clear it can drop by any time it pleases.
The update specifies that “we may contact you in any manner we choose” and that such contacts can include calls, emails, texts, faxes or a “personal visit.” As if that weren’t creepy enough, Cap One says these visits can be “at your home and at your place of employment.”
… “It sounds really invasive, but I don’t think it’s a violation of your 4th Amendment rights,” said Daniel E. Kann, a Santa Clarita lawyer who specializes in illegal-search cases.
… Incredibly, Cap One’s aggressiveness doesn’t stop with personal visits. The company’s contract update also includes this little road apple: “We may modify or suppress caller ID and similar services and identify ourselves on these services in any manner we choose.”

There’s Fascism and those who support fascism. Why would the largest Democratic PAC, Priorities USA, opt out of the 2014 congressional election? It recently threw its support, and money, behind Hillary’s 2016 run for the presidency. So what gives? #1) Priorities USA is a conservative (1%) Democratic PAC. #2) The PAC doesn’t want Hillary engaging in any discussions about income or wealth inequality. #3) Priorities does not support the Democratic Party’s shift toward the LEFT. And most importantly: #4) The PAC believes that if the Republicans hold on to the House and regain control of the Senate it will better position Hillary politically. Because she will ***appear***progressive when compared to the Republicans. These are the shell games that the plutocrats play because they win either way.
That is 100% sociopathic.
And f*ck Alec Baldwin – abusive ass.
THIS is the only reason I could EVER think of to use STAND YOUR GROUND! I was so vehemently opposed to that law, too!
I return all of those Capitol One Business Reply envelopes with a couple chunks of roofing shingle. It adds a LOT of weight that exceeds the pre=paid amount. Sure it is petty, but it costs THEM. If enough people did it… well, that could add up to a Cap One BK.
Many enlightened comments here, I must say.
monkeyfister, I once did something similar back around the 2004 election. I got a contribution request from a former IL Republican Senator (as of 2001 or early 2002, I think) asking that I donate to the various Republicans seeking office in 2004.
There was a pre-paid return envelope for your donation. At first, I was going to pitch it. Then, I packed it as full as I could with as much scrap paper as I could find, thinking “OK, pre-pay that”.
How I got on a Republican mailing list I’ll never know. I can only think maybe it was because I sent the guy a letter in 2002 asking, please, let’s not go to war in Iraq.
