I’m biting my tongue

Rendell

Because it wouldn’t be nice to say it out loud:

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Former Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell said Philadelphia Inquirer co-owner Lewis Katz invited him on the doomed flight that crashed, killing seven.

Rendell said Katz tried to persuade him Friday to attend an event at historian Doris Kearns Goodwin’s Massachusetts home, but he had another commitment.

Katz, a 72-year-old business mogul, and six others were returning home to New Jersey on Saturday night when the plane crashed on takeoff. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating what may have caused the crash.

The former Democratic governor said Katz died at ‘‘maybe the high point of his life.’’ Katz was thrilled this week after he and a partner won an $88 million auction for the Inquirer and Philadelphia Daily News, Rendell said.

  1. Who else was on that plane? First reports said that the plane took off and then caught fire. Later reports said that it never left the runway but burst into flames while in the process of taking off. In the air or not in the air? What was the event at Doris Kearns Goodwin’s home that Katz was attending? Goodwin is booked as an historian with MSNBC among others, but more often than not she sounds like a right wing apologist. Why is the Philadelphia Daily News calling the 5 just released Taliban prisoners “terrorists.” They were part of the Afghan government until the USA removed them from power with its illegal war. The corporate news media are liars and propagandists.

  2. I agree about Doris and the MSM being propagandist liars…we will never know?

  3. Me too. With Democrats like him, who needs the other guys. I forget. What is is that distinguishes him from Republicans? Fracking?
Social Security “reform?” Cuts to social programs. Bombing Iran?

He’s in the proud Pennsylvania tradition of being confused, which Arlen Spector took to a whole new level. For a while Arlen was the second most execrable member of the Senate, but he could never catch up with Gurney Joe.

This news is just the publicity jolt Ed needs to declare for Senate. Bye, bye Penn’s Woods.

  4. According to our reliable news media Katz was either on his way to a wedding or a fund raiser. He was traveling with 2 or 3 other plutocrats said to be his friends. The plane had 2 pilots and a “hostess.” This story is all over the board.
