Vacation open thread

I’m taking a week off to take care of some stuff. No, I’m not going anywhere — too broke. Some people will be filling in sporadically (don’t worry, Boohunney will still do her daily posts), but this time, I want my readers to do most of the work. I’ll throw up the occasional piece, but it will be sporadic.

I’m posting an open thread every morning. Link to the day’s most interesting stories in the comments (you know, stuff like this) and tell us what you think. What’s on your mind?

  1. Let’s look at what Israel is doing to Gaza. There is only one good example in recent history to compare it with. What the Nazis did to Warsaw, Poland. Obama has allowed the Israeli Zionists (neo-cons) to kill 300 hundred Palestinian children in Gaza. What have they got to do with rocket fire and tunnel digging? Obama has also allowed thousands of dwellings to be destroyed with American bombs dropped by Israelis. Where are the 150,000 dispossessed Palestinians suppose to live once the fighting stops? So far Obama has permitted the Israeli’s to kill 1100 and wound 6000 Palestinians. 70% of them civilians. The bottom line is easy. Israel will remain Israel. It will not become the “Jewish” State of Israel. And Hamas will reject its stated goal of destroying Israel. That gets a permanent, yet tenuous, peace by creating the conditions for a long-term ceasefire.

  2. Hillary says that Putin is “arrogant” and “difficult to work with.” WTF does that mean? That Putin won’t bend at the waist and kiss her on the ass. Is that the way Bill handles her? Every time Hillary open her mouth she gives the Left more reasons ‘not’ to vote for her.

  3. This from Florida. The Dan A. Hughes Co. left the state last week after the Florida EPA pulled all of its drilling permits and imposed a $100,000 fine. “Fracking in Florida is dead,” said Eric Draper, executive director of Audubon Florida. “It’s a toxic issue now.” Draper went on to say that we need the “people on the East Coast” to be motivated “to stop the offshore drilling that Obama opened up.”

  4. “A former top official at Kansai Electric Power Co. has come forward to reveal a nearly 20-year history of doling out “top secret” huge donations to Japanese prime ministers, funded on the backs of ratepayers.
Chimori Naito, 91, a former KEPCO vice president, said that for 18 years from 1972, seven prime ministers received 20 million yen (about $200,000 now) annually from Yoshishige Ashihara, who served as both KEPCO president and chairman.”
