David Greenglass died on July 1st. His lawyer confirmed his death the day before yesterday. Greenglass spent 10 years in prison for his role in the Rosenberg spy ring. His brother-in-law Julius and his sister Ethel were both executed in 1953 after being convicted of giving the Russians US atomic bomb secrets. Greenglass was not executed because he testified against his sister Ethel and her husband Julius. In 2001 at the age of 79 Greenglass admitted that he had lied about his sisters involvement in passing state secrets to save his own life. He also claimed that the FBI knew that he was lying about Ethel’s role. We all know that Sen. Joe McCarthy used this episode to gin up fear among the American people about the “communist menace” in Hollywood and elsewhere in the country. The FBI like the CIA are bullshit organizations with a hidden agenda.
