Funny thing about this tax is that nobody in either party likes it and nobody in either party has ever taken credit for putting it into the ACA. Although some people have claimed that the Obama administration had it put in as an offset for some other tax that was taken out of the original bill. It’s an excise tax and excise taxes are regressive and generally used to prevent some socially frowned upon behavior like smoking or drinking. Nobody knows how much money the 2.8% tax generates, although some say its as much as $2 billion dollars a year. Warren and anyone else who votes to repeal this tax should get a pass.
