I guess I shouldn’t ask, but do you have any old Coltrane, Miles, Marcus Belgrave, Syretta Wright, or Tony Hester? I ‘m from Detroit originally, although I’ve lived in the Atlanta area for almost 40 years.
I personally knew all the folks I mentioned and I think I heard someone say that living a long life is sad in that all your best friends, lovers, etc. who leave before you can leave you lonely. It’s really true because the artists I mentioned were artist that were never given their due. Stevie eventually married Syretta and moved her to LA, but I still miss her. She called me prior to her death having called Detroit to ask my mom for my Atlanta phone number. I had a very jealous wife at the time who refused the free offer from Syretta to fly both of us to Vegas as she appeared on the Mike Douglas Show.
If I had my druthers, I’d ask that all the folks I mentioned Take me with them. There is not much music out there to match the artistry of the 60, 70, 80’s……………….May my good friends continue to rest in peace……………
