  1. This is incorrect. The drawing is of Carl, not Brian. Carl had a full beard and smoked. The words are also incorrect. The first two sentences are from The Beach Boys’ I Know There’s an Answer, but the remainder sentences make no sense and have nothing to do with the beginning thought. Furthermore, the lyrics to I Know There’s an Answer were written by Mike Love, not Brian Wilson.

  2. I stand corrected in that these are the first version of I Know There’s An Answer, which was Hang On To Your Ego. But, as Mike Love said in an interview in 1992:

    That brings up the song “Hang On To Your Ego,” which was going to be on Pet Sounds.

    That used to be “Hang On To Your Ego” and then it became “I Know There’s An Answer.” I changed the lyrics because I thought it was too acid for me. That was those guys doing acid, Van Dyke Parks, and Brian and Tony Asher.

    Either Asher or Parks wrote that as quoted above; Mike Love re-wrote the two final verses in the quote.
