DES MOINES, Wash. — A gunman shot at a homeless family in the city of Des Moines early Christmas Eve.
A father, mother and son were at an apartment complex near the intersection of South 216th Street and 30th Avenue South.
The family did not live there and do not have ties to the area.
Around 1 a.m., an unidentified person walked up and fired at least 10 shots at the family.
The father was hit in the leg. He suffered life-threatening injuries.
The mother and son were not hit.
A bullet also struck one of the units of the complex, but only damaged the exterior.
The shooter fled the scene and has not been located.
