Trump Can Kiss His Chances Goodbye If There’s A Hillary Clinton/Elizabeth Warren Ticket

Senators raise concerns about advisor oversight

Despite all the rhetoric swirling around right now concerning the 2016 presidential race, Donald Trump’s chances of winning aren’t all that great. That doesn’t mean he can’t win – he most certainly can – but once the general election really kicks into high gear his weaknesses are going to be exposed, badly. Even in early June…

  1. I don’t want Warren kicked upstairs to the VP’s office — I want her leading the Senate!

  2. That’s not a good idea. Senate Majority Leader is a compromise position. Why would you want her to compromise?

  3. Have to agree with Foraker in part, although all indications are that Schumer is a shoo-in for Senate minority leader. Can’t imagine the party that sandbagged Sestak in PA and is doing the same to Grayson in FL would choose someone as outspoken on banking and consumer protection as Warren. After all, she might try to take down Schumer’s signature accomplishment, the carried interest loophole.

That said, this post is all about the election, bringing the Bernie bots on board, etc. Understandable. Everyone wants to demolish Trumph. But in terms of governance after the election, EW can do more in the Senate in her areas of exceptional expertise:
Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs
Ranking Member, Subcommittee on Economic Policy
Member, Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Protection
Member, Subcommittee on Securities, Insurance, and Investment
Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources
    Member, Subcommittee on Energy
    Member, Subcommittee on National Parks
Member, Subcommittee on Public Lands, Forests, and Mining
Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions
Member, Subcommittee on Primary Health and Retirement Security
    Senate Special Committee on Aging

And, BTW, vice-president isn’t just a compromise position, it’s a compromised position. Nowhere would that be more clear than in Hillary’s certain shape shift back to support the TPP, which will be a little awkward for Liz:

  4. I agree totally with Foraker and Adams. In the Senate she is a force to be reckoned with. As VP she would be a puppet on the President’s string.

  5. Remember when Joe Sestak “sandbagged” the netroots that raised $600K for him to get elected for Congress? He promised to vote against FISA and immmediately voted for it. I wouldn’t trust Joe with a bag of dirty socks.

The one thing that would be good about Liz Warren as VP would be her preparation for becoming the next president.

  6. Remember when Obama said he’d filibuster telecom immunity then missed the vote. And when he said he’d wear out shoe leather walking the line in support of unions then had nothing to say when Walker busted public sector unions in WI. And when Hillary was all for TPP, then she was against it now she’s for it again.

Politicians. Wouldn’t trust any of them with a bag of socks. Schumer hates Sestak because he wouldn’t kiss his ass. Anyone that makes it difficult for Schumer to walk into the Senate minority leadership is ok with me. At least he’s not not another neolib Dem sellout.

BTW, I love Liz, and have had huuuuge respect for her since she was writing on consumer protection issues for TPM, but she knows much less about foreign policy than Bernie does.

  7. Sestak is several different kinds of asshole. A friend who worked for his first campaign told me he and his brother used to sit around laughing at the progressives who gave him money.
