Keeping up

Breaking: Protesters force cancellation of Milo Yiannopoulos talk at UC Berkeley

I feel so inadequate these days. It’s very difficult to keep up, shit is happening faster than I can write about it. And I’m trying to work on the new site at the same time, so…

It’s important to take care of yourselves, to not get overwhelmed. That means not spending too much time on online media, getting enough sleep, and eating properly. When you are feeling hypervigilant, you feel compelled to monitor it all.

Remember that President Bannon and his white supremacist minions are trying to overwhelm you. It’s part of their strategy.

And I know most of you don’t want to hear this, but the Democrats are trying really hard to figure out how to handle all this. Remember, they’re flying without a net. Republicans have shown they have no intention of keeping the crazy in line, so we have no checks and balances left to speak of.

There are no mythical perfect people who can come in and save us now. The Dems are what we have, and we’re behind them, pushing and screaming every step of the way. It’s working. Don’t despair.

  1. You’re right. What we’re getting is one giant, gaslighting, Gish Gallop. It’s supposed to throw us off and make us question our sanity. It’s an attempt to use our human decency against us, and make us question our allegiances. Trump may not be much of a politician, but he learned his PR skills from Roy Cohn, who Molly Ivins called “Maybe one of the most despicable men to ever live.”
Staying informed is different than “keeping up”, which runs the risk of following a toxic lead right into evil hands.

  2. Well if they fail this time and anoint the ilk of Schumer, I go full bore nihilistic and vote a straight Republican ticket to send them into the trash heap of history and clear the field of false liberalism. This next four years is going to do a lot of damage and the resistance so far is pathetic. They will confirm Gorsuch if they can’t stop Devos. My Hillary vote may be the last Democratic vote of my lifetime.
