I used to hate Jennifer Rubin

Not because I so rarely agreed with her, but because as with most conservatives, she made arguments that defined logic. Glad to see that she’s out in front against Trump:

  1. When push comes to shove Qanon will become violent and Jennifer Rubin will probably not switch parties.

But everything is in a state of confusion these days.
Take Representative Steve Israel, Democrat from New York for example.

Israel is offering a (conspiracy) theory about Trump working very hard to help the Democrats flip the House so that he can use them as a “foil” to get reelected in 2020.
That’s pretty far out there, but his solution to this crazy thinking is equally as stunning.

    Steve believes that:
    > Democrats should not be a national party with a national message and agenda.
    > Democrats should run individual, personal races based on what their local constituents want even if that means calling yourself a moderate who supports some Republican ideas.
    >Democrats should never talk about impeachment as a remedy or about any of the other grievances that Progressives might have.

The Republicans should be thrilled by this list of suggestions that Israel has presented to his fellow Democrats.
Hopefully, there are no other Democrats out there who think like Steve Israel? Because what’s he’s proposing will lose them the House in a heartbeat.

  2. I used to only know of Jennifer Rubin because she traded off with Richard Cohen for the “worst sentence ever published in the Washington Post” honor on Princess Sparkle Pony’s blog.
I think I agree with Driftglass about her now, though: she has said the magic words “we must elect Democrats” repeatedly, on TV, and as for her previous support for awful, awful Republicans, just don’t turn your back on her (or any other GOP never Trumper).
Were she an actual GOP operative or elected official, the bar for entry would need be higher, somewhere in the “show us the blueprints to the death star” range, but her use of her punditry skills for the side of sanity is probably the best we can expect from her and I welcome her and it.
