You can not be a Socialist and a Capitalist at the same time like Ocasio-Cortez and others seem to think.
It’s not possible.
But, you can be a Socialist and a entrepreneur simultaneously.
Both Socialists and Capitalists are most concerned about size and power.
Capitalists want it all. All the wealth and all the power.
For them the government which governs (regulates) least, governs best.
By nature the most ideologically pure and committed Capitalists are authoritarians and despots. Greedy and controlling.
Socialists believe that a concentration of wealth and power at the top (oligarchs) rewards a very few while crushing everyone else.
For example, yesterday BB&T Bank and SunTrust Bank announced a merger deal.
The merger will create the 6th largest bank in the US with assets of $442 billion.
It will also save $1.6 billion in yearly operating costs. (Here come the layoffs boys and girls.)
How does firing thousands of workers and reducing competition in the banking industry benefit the average American?
It doesn’t and the Justice Department should reject this merger for the good of the country.
