The Italian Parliament will be voting on an LGBT hate crimes bill this week.
Marlon Landolfo, 21, said of the bill, “We have been through centuries of discrimination. Now it’s 2020 and we are still discussing a law that protects us for what we are.”
The bill is opposed by the conservatives, the Roman Catholic Church, and some feminist groups.
The conservative (Fascist) Nationalist League Party said that the bill would “put ideas on trial.”
The feminists are opposed to “broadening the definition of women by using the term ‘gender identity.'”
The Roman Catholic Church is opposing the bill using the same 12th century arguments that they always use even to justify war.
