No normal person could watch those videos and think this, but Scott is a Republican, not a normal person:

Well, it is a waste of time in the sense that Republican senators will not vote to convict Fergus, and wouldn’t do so were he in the chamber dining on a live baby.
It isn’t, though, a waste of time when you consider the electoral outcome of the fifteen Republican senators likely to vote to acquit who are up for reelection next year.
The paradox of the impeachment is that Republican senators are claiming that Fergus wasn’t in control of his supporters who stormed the capitol, but won’t vote to convict him because they believe he has so much control over his supporters that they would lose their jobs if they did.
