With twenty years of hindsight it’s become perfectly clear that George W. Bush bought into Dick Cheney’s plan (Israeli) for dominance in the Middle East whole hog.
According to the Cheney Plan the US would first invade Afghanistan (9-11), then invade Iraq (Saddam was the devil), next we’d instigate a civil war in Syria (taking Assad out of the game), and finally declare war on Iran.
Had Cheney’s Plan (Netanyahu’s) worked Israel would have dominated the ME militarily for a thousand years.
And the US would have been selling Iranian, Iraqi, and Syrian oil on the open market for a thousand years.
