  1. The military spent $14 trillion in the 20 years following 9-11 (and America didn’t spend a single cent on single-payer, universal health care).

About half of it, or $7 trillion, went to for-profit private contractors.
The military contracted out such functions as training and equipping Afghan security forces including a 300,000 man army.

In order to operate the contractors routinely paid protection money to warlords and the Taliban.

Halliburton, where Cheney worked before he became Bush’s VP, received $30 billion to provide services to our troops in Afghanistan. (Halliburton’s stock did very well when Cheney and Obama were in the WH.)

Cheney and other warmongers claim that using contractors allowed the military to be “trimmer” and “more efficient.”
    What a load of crap.
$14 trillion over 20 years, $700 billion a year, is a lot of money.
Especially when half of it is given to for-profit (cost+plus) privately owned corporations.
