Clear as can be
Democrats should have protected the rights of women over their own bodies with strong legislation over the past decades when they controlled both houses and the presidency. They did not. Why? Too controversial and they had to protect the delicate feefees of “right to life” Dem holdouts like Henry Cuellar.
As recently as the last election, Dem poobahs like Nancy, Steny, Hakeem, and Clyburn endorsed Cuellar over staunch women’s rights advocate Jessica Cisneros in the Texas primary. I hope she runs again against him. I will support her.
It has been obvious for decades that the RtLers would stop at nothing to end Roe. They did. The MSM and “moderate” Dems repeatedly urged compromise with the anti-abortion fringe, saying a reasonable accommodation could be reached. This is SOP for the Dem establishment, and results in the consistent rightward movement of the “overton window” on many, many issues.
That the Republican Party as a whole has taken this position is just a nuance on the movement on abortion over decades. Liz is too smart to just have discovered this.
