A pastor must tell such a congregant: ” I am your pastor. Do you know what that means? It is the same word as ‘shepherd’, and you are my sheep. What you have said means that you have gone astray, and you may be lost. That is my responsibility, as your shepherd. Come back to the fold, come back to Christ, or else you may be lost forever. I am in earnest.”
