Oh, fer cryin’ out loud…

Over the weekend, Mr. Boohunney and myself decided to head up to the mountains to check out the autumn leaves. A cold front was moving through and the air was getting pretty chilly, so we decided to stop at a Starbuck’s for a cup of coffee. Here is a representation of the coffee cups that were used by the store; Starbuck’s holiday cup for this year’s holiday season…

For some people these cups are highly offensive and do not reflect the “reason for the season.” In fact,  some say that the cups are the result of political correctness gone to an extreme…

And the folks at Breitbart had found the nefarious motivation for the offensive cups….

You can see what’s going on here. More open? You mean, you’re trying not to “offend” anyone.

Frankly, the only thing that can redeem them from this whitewashing of Christmas is to print Bible verses on their cups next year.

I guess this year’s “War on Christmas” has officially begun.

A Starbuck’s spokesperson explains the new, simpler design…

in previous years, Starbucks’ iconic holiday cups, which the chain uses in lieu of white cups in November and December, featured wintry or Christmas-themed designs like snowflakes, ornaments and nature scenes. This year, the cups are more minimalist — a red ombre design that Jeffrey Fields, Starbucks’ vice president of design, said was meant to embrace “the simplicity and the quietness” of the holiday season.

I am inclined to agree with Mr. Fields about how the simple design of the red cup does produce a sense of holiday and celebration.  For example, what does this red cup mean to many people? For most, it means times of togetherness and celebration…Solo

I think some of the Christianists need to get over their damn selves.
