It’s a big country

Flood of new migrants is burdening some cities — while others would welcome them https://t.co/8C4qqJL7Ap “In contrast to other cities such as Topeka, Kan., Dayton, Ohio, and Erie, Pa., say they have the room, they have the space and are ready to welcome documented migrants.”

There's a bull on the tracks at Newark, NJ, Penn Station.

Deadly by design

December 7, 2023December 6, 2023 ~ susie

Let’s face the truth: gun violence isn’t random or inevitable. It’s systematic.

Today we’re launching a new project: PA survivors share the losses they’ve suffered under a system that’s #DeadlyByDesign & working exactly as-planned. Watch their stories at https://t.co/rVGcGtv2si pic.twitter.com/hpJD02DVCw

Hacked

December 5, 2023December 4, 2023 ~ susie

CISA, the FBI, and the EPA held a press briefing this evening about these Iranian cyberattacks on U.S. water facilities.

Big takeaway: the government is still scrambling to figure out which utilities have been hacked — and even just which ones are using the targeted PLCs. https://t.co/nYerYkG3Yo

Tech dreams

July 24, 2023July 23, 2023 ~ susie

Andrew Truelove came to California in April with tech founder dreams & $2,000. A month later, he was sleeping in a parking lot.

For @latimes Column One, I spent weeks chronicling his brutal landing in unforgiving 2023 Los Angeles.

Democrats get shit done

June 23, 2023June 22, 2023 ~ susie

To rebuild I-95 on time, we need 12 hours of dry weather to complete the paving and striping process.

With rain in the forecast, we reached out @PoconoRaceway for help — and they're bringing their jet dryer to Philly to help dry this section of I-95 and keep us on schedule.
