Impeachment’s off the table, but hey, let’s throw the crowd a (useless) bone:
Two weeks ago, the House passed a contempt resolution against White House chief of staff Josh Bolten and former counsel Harriet Miers. The two refused to comply with subpoenas issued by the House Judiciary Committee as part of the investigation of the U.S. attorney firings.
Today, after House lawyers dotted their i’s and crossed their t’s, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) finally followed up by referring the contempt resolution to the U.S. attorney for D.C.

yeah, I saw this and had to laugh. I can’t even say “better late than never” because there won’t be any consequences.
it’s just a joke. unfortunately, the joke is on the american people.
Impeachment of GWB is “off the table”, but impeachment of the U.S. Attorney for DC isn’t. And I’m sure that the USA for DC is young enough to still have a lot of his career ahead, where getting impeached will cause a lot of pain. (yeah, wingnut welfare, but I’m sure that life in the conservitard think-tanks won’t be what he wants after the plum USA for DC job).
And, of course, there will be far less political support of this guy if brought up on impeachment. He’d be far too junior to be non-expendable.
So let him know: prosecute or get shitcanned. His choice. Either way works for us.
