Well, Mitt Romney made a “Birther Statement.” He went there.
Mitt Romney made a joke about his birth certificate at a rally in Commerce, Mich. on Friday.
Speaking about his Michigan roots, he said, “No one’s ever asked to see my birth certificate. They know that this is the place that we were born and raised.”
I really thought that Romney would not make a birther statement during the campaign. I really thought he would stay away from that nonsense. I’m with Digby on this.
“I don’t know what they’re seeing in the polls, but saying this on top of the “welfare” lie makes it clear they’re going full blown white privilege solidarity now….. This isn’t even dogwhistling. It’s a primal scream.”
White Americans do not have to produce papers, do they? Dang, slap my knee, that’s funny!
There are so many more rumors spread regarding the President that are just ridiculous and continue to circulate by email and the social network. Here are just a few…..
The President has a fake Social Security number….
The President never attended Columbia University….
The President attended Occidental College as a foreign student on a Fulbright Foundation Scholarship program.
(I normally would provide links, but, these kinds of things are easy to find and I do not want to give some of these clowns any extra traffic.)
A couple of weeks ago a Tea Partier I know put this up on the Social Network. It was with a review of a book by Joel Gilbert called “Dreams of my REAL Father” apparently asserting the President’s father was Frank Davis, a card carrying communist. Gilbert has apparently found unearthed pictures and evidence of the dark, sordid life of Ann Dunham.
Many of these get recirculated over and over. When I get into discussions some Right Wingers go right to these kinds of things or to a “non-troversy” in an alleged serious discussion. With the release of the long form Certificate, you would think the conversation would move on along to more important matters.
Well, Birthers, “Eat mor chiken….”
