Oh dear God why do we have such a shitty media?

yah

The Newark Star-Ledger does a lengthy endorsement in the gubernatorial race. What’s notable is they basically pull Christie to shreds over what a lousy job he’s done, but at least he’s better than Barbara Buono:

Why then, are we endorsing him for a second term? Because his challenger, state Sen. Barbara Buono, is a deeply flawed candidate.

Begin with education. Buono’s close alliance with the teachers union is a threat to the progress Christie is making in cities such as Newark and Camden. She is hostile to charter schools, which now educate nearly 1 in 4 kids in Newark.

Like most people in the newspaper business, the writers at the Star-Ledger are almost assuredly better off financially and cushioned from the reality of life in Newark. (All they know is what corporate shill Cory Booker tells them!) They reassure us by pointing out that President Obama likes charters, too.

I’m not saying this endorsement choice was easy. I know Buono’s inexperienced. So was Christie. All he’d ever been was a Wall St. lobbyist and a man who bought himself a U.S. Attorney slot. But they don’t even point out the obvious –which is, Christie’s really not running for governor. He’s running for president.

Christie has never even bothered to submit to an interview with the editorial board of his state’s largest and most influential newspaper. They endorsed him anyway. That pretty much sums things up with our librul media.

H/t Tony Munter.

  1. I have a feeling that this outcome will be closer than it polls. The right wing is going to be hopping mad over his selling out the Senate seat and they know that Christie is the likely opponent of their darling Ted Cruz.
