The parade’s on the teevee. They had to get a Polish announcer because no one else knows how to say all the names!

Heh. Try being a Mainland football broadcaster and doing U of Hawai’i games. Some try pretty hard, others don’t do their homework at all, but when faced with a roster of names like Ho`oikaika Cavaco-Amoy and Kaniela Tuipulotu, well, what can anyone do?
They probably hold the parade now because of the big St. Patty’s parade in March.
Hey, how about Andrzej Tadeusz Bonawentura KoĹ›ciuszko, Anglicized as Thaddeus Kosciusko, or the full Andrew Thaddeus Bonaventure Kosciusko. New York’s Polish parade is in his honor for his service to the Continental Congress and Army during the Revolution.

Hilarity ensured.
It was a Polish neighborhood then, with other Eastern Europeans moving in. Now it’s mostly Latino.
