Police armed to the teeth to fight — protesters?
It’s all that money for and from The War on [Some] Drug [Users]. Not only do police agencies get money from the Feds to buy the weapons, they get to keep the money and materiel that they seize in drug raids. And I’m sure the cops like playing that they are these mighty warriors or some such fantasy.
I’ve mentioned this fact a couple of times in this very venue. And I read somewhere today that the military is considering dumping their used IraHumvees and tanks onto “law enforcement” on the Mexico border. Good times ahead.
Woodsider, you’re right about everything except for the fantasy aspect. The cops, sherrifs’ departments, state, county, local, federal, and Homeland uber alles Security are LIVING their fantasies. It’s real now. They get to bust heads, break up families, and steal the booty at will.

This is why marijuana will never be legalized. It’s way, way too profitable.
