Very sad piece. The first story brought to mind Santorum’s daughter Isabelle. It sounds like the condition of the Irish couple’s daughter was Trisomy 18 (same gene, same three copies of it, but this article spelled out more clearly the possible outcomes).
I hope both the couple and the single lady are able to rebuild their lives and dreams.
