Hmm

So intellectual journals in general are rather lax in publishing pieces by women writers! I am so very, very shocked.

Seriously, don’t kid yourself. It happens in the blogosphere, too. I still remember a young Ezra Klein (yes, even younger) lecturing me about expecting to be supported by male bloggers when I hadn’t paid my dues, like him. “Uh, Ezra, I’ve been blogging a year longer than you,” I said.

Oh.

Here’s why it’s important: Because women in general are more liberal than men. We want specific social things, we’re not as eager to whip out our dicks on national security issues to make people take us seriously. The national discourse would look very different if more women – diverse women, not women selected for their ability to parrot the standard male policy wonk positions – were given a voice.

And if pigs had wings, they could fly.

You could read this, too.

  1. We got a voice, we just have to YELL LOUDER! Some think calling me an “opinionated bitch” is a bad thing! I take it as a compliment. 🙂

  2. You hit it on the nail, Susie. On TV last week some representative (NOT mine) was blustering about I forget what in a session, and his bloviating was met with hoots and hollers, like a Springer episode. I am ashamed that the people we elect in this country, in particular the ‘good ole boys’ network act like immature little juveniles in what is supposed to be a serious matter of governance.Very low quality representation seems to be the theme, and I am ashamed of these cynical purveyors of nonsense and intrusion in our lives with needless, heartless law making. It is obvious we NEED more women running the show, except for that Arizona nut job, and Nikki Haley.

Don’t forget Michelle Bachman, Sarah Palin, Sharron Angle, and Christine O’Donnell.

Women may be more liberal than men, but the ones that rise to political prominence aren’t necessarily liberal.

  4. Men are driven by women toward what they believe will get them more money and/or power. Women are absolutely complicit in the American Situation.
