Ordinarily, I don’t pay much attention to stories like this, but it seems like it will continue to be a problem because I still haven’t heard a coherent AND complete narrative from the administration. Maybe we’ll hear one tonight.

Agreed that the Administration has not done a good job of explaining what happened. That doesn’t mean that credible explanations have not been put forward, and the Administration’s failure to get it together consistently and coherently means that there is anything amiss.

Tragic, yes, but seems to be a nonstory with regard to the Presidency.

Kevin Drum agrees.
Yesterday on This Week, Rahm flat-out changed the subject when asked a question about it. Again, not saying there’s anything to hide — but it’s not good when your surrogate can’t/won’t answer questions.
Emmanuel said clearly that he was not privy to all the facts. He isn’t in the White House anymore, remember. Oh nevermind!
Campaign surrogates (like Rahm) are selected and prepared by the candidate’s staff. Rahm knew what the questions would be going in – there are no surprises on these shows. Obviously, he was told not to answer that, or he would have had a prepared statement.
