What would you say if Barry came knocking?

President Obama was at the Jersey shore today to signal support for those who got slammed by Frankenstorm. If I lived there and Barry came to my door, I’d ask for help but I’d expect him to say “We’re gonna see a lot more freak storms like this, thanks to global warming. Why the hell do you live on a barrier island?”

No, seriously, I’d thank him for staying on the job even though the election is next week, and for not staging political rallies disguised as charity events. (I’m thinking of cheesy Mitt Romney, collecting canned goods in Ohio, refusing to admit that he’s the guy who vowed to get rid of FEMA.) I’d remind Obama that he’s in a tight race because he seemed in his first term to be more concerned with bailing out Wall Street crooks than with helping create jobs. I’d assure him that he has my vote, but only because his opponent is a disgusting and dangerous liar.

What would you say to Barry?

  1. Barry:
Every time you ask me for $5 because others are out-raising you, I point out that you make a good case for public campaign finance. Many of our obstacles are more difficult to navigate because politicians are beholden to corporate interests, rather than beholden to We The People. What exactly are you doing to remove the mega-cash from our electoral process?

  2. I’d say:

Mr. President, I’ve admired some of the things you’ve tried to do in your first term in the face of fierce obstruction, and I’ll vote again for you hoping you get a second term. But, the next four years are yours to kick ass and not bend over backwards to screw over folks like me. The other party has continually shown where they are coming from, so don’t make the mistake of giving them what they want so quickly: make them “Christie” you before getting a goddamned thing from your office!

  3. Me: Thanks Mr. Obama for coming to your senses on this Syria thing. It appears that the war(s) in Syria is coming to a conclusion. (See Hillary’s comments yesterday.) So in the end there won’t be any winners. But, the Zionists and the United States will be the losers. Which is a very good thing for the Palestinian and Israeli people. Don’t you agree?

  4. Too little, too late.

Thank him? For doing his job? The job he wanted so much?

I’ll donate to the Dem Party when the party elders see fit to run an actual democrat.

  5. I’d ask him why he is prosecuting Don Siegelman and why he was the first president NOT to replace the federal prosecutors in all the states with his own people.
