Confirmed

Four American citizens were killed in drone strikes. In other news:

Several hours ago, Barack Obama nominated David Barron, author of the notorious OLC memos authorizing the assassination of an American citizen with the kind of “due process” the Executive Branch gives, by itself, in secret, to serve on the First Circuit.

Yet even while Obama moved to make Barron a lifetime appointed judge, the FOIA suits to liberate the troubling opinion Barron authored continues at a snail’s pace. CIA filed an intransigent opinion back in August in the more general suit (that would, however, probably return Barron’s opinions). In a response a few weeks ago, the ACLU suggested that such frivolous claims could only serve to forestall the time when it will have to release the assassination-related documents.

  1. Wonderful! Violating central tenets of international law and domestic due process is the new fast track to a judicial appointment. Boy is that FISA Court ever going to have a scary deep bench.

  2. The aggressiveness of America’s foreign policy (in this case its military adventurism by drone) is rapidly isolating our country from the rest of the world. Obama’s speech at the U.N. yesterday was a stunning example of classical imperialistic jingoism. When Obama spoke about securing natural resources (oil) for the U.S. and its allies from the Middle East by any means necessary he made his geopolitical intentions quite clear. Is it any wonder that the President of Iran wouldn’t shake his hand? Neo-conism (Zionist interventionism) is alive and well and living in the Democratic Party. We can not afford to put another warmonger, like Hillary, into the White House in 2016.

  3. I didn’t hear much about Obama’s speech, and, being without teebee for awhile now, and finding NPR less than enlightening, I haven’t heard the speech either.

So, now I guess I’d better listen to it or find a transcript.

    What a horrible president.
