Loser Dems

Jeff Sessions (Sen. R-AL) Obstructionist Republican Clown

Charlie Pierce:

Remember when Howard Dean made such a pest of himself with his ludicrous 50 State Strategy, which ran contrary to the political hippie-punching genius that is Rahm Emanuel? This is what you get if you listen to Rahm.

Alabama holds an election for U.S. Senate in 2014. Republican Senator Jeff Sessions is running for re-election. For the first time in Alabama history, the Democrats are not running anyone for U.S. Senate. Here is a list of Democrats running in the June 2014 primary for federal and state office. There are no Democrats running for U.S. House in the 4th and 5th districts. For the 140 state legislative races, no Democrats are running in 57 races.

Jeebus, these people. Jefferson Davis Beauregard Sessions is an incredible blight on the political landscape. You run someone against him, and you decide to run against him, because it is important to make sure the state (and, if you’re entirely lucky, the country) gets to see that clearly. Elections clarify things. They put a sharper point on the arguments. They force the issues. They don’t do any of that if you don’t run someone. Jeff Sessions should have to spend the next six months getting the crap kicked out of him by a Democrat simply because of who Jefferson Davis Beauregard Sessions is, and what he stands for, and because of what he has done (and will continue to do) to places far beyond Alabama. It is the job of Alabama’s Democrats to do so because that’s the obligation they owe to the rest of the country. Step up, people.

  1. Loser Dems equal winner 1%. Take for example the 1%’s killer drone program. You can’t fly a weaponized drone into any country with an air defense system. Because it’ll be shot down. That’s why we use them in Yemen, Somalia, Afghanistan and the tribal are of western Pakistan but not in Syria. Drones are a limited use weapons system. Do you want to know why the neo-cons want to keep 10,000 troops in Afghanistan until 2025 and beyond? Tomorrow, is another day.

  3. I think the Democrats have been the “let’s take a dive” party ever since 2009. They came in after the 2008 election with majorities in both branches of Congress, and if not a strong mandate, then at least a strong desire by their supporters to “do something progressive”.

That was the last thing on Earth the “professional” Democrat leaders wanted to do.

I think they welcomed getting roasted and toasted on health care issues in 2009-2010 because it would effectively put them back into minority status, and all that troublesome bother with demand for movement on the progressive front would go away.

    That has come to pass.

And the reason they don’t want to challenge Jefferson Davis Beauregard Sessions, and highlight the differences between his positions and the positions of the “Democratic Wing of the Democratic Party” is because the professionals who run the party don’t at all like the positions of the “Democratic Wing of the Democratic Party”.

Stuff like that is embarrassing to the party pros.

They’d rather just hit up Corporations for money and do their bidding.

Which is why the Democrats are basically a dead party.

Who cares what they do anymore?

  4. I think Dems who aren’t part of the sold-out Rahm branch of the party have been shunned, dumped, silenced or worse. Howard Dean has been marginalized. Jimmy Carter was treated monstrously by the party power establishment in his day. And just look at what they have done to Don Siegelman.

For that matter, I think Jimmy Carter’s son lives in Nevada. A while back his daughter tried to persuade him to run by raising 50k for him at Kos in a month. Kos raised the money, but I don’t see Jimmy Jr. running.

What do they know that we don’t?
