Hugh Laurie @ Gran Rex Theatre

That my output is marginal these days. That’s because something’s wrong with me, and I don’t know what. My thyroid levels are fine, so it’s probably not that. I’m really, really exhausted — as in, after eight hours’ sleep, I wake up and an hour later, I wish I could go back to bed. The last time I felt this bad, it was 1990 or so, and I had Lyme disease. Except that I don’t. All blood work was normal.

And it’s not depression — other than I’m depressed that no one seems to know what’s wrong, and I’m dragging around all day. My brain’s foggy, I have no stamina and even though I go to the gym, I’m not building up any endurance at all. It feels almost as if my muscles stop working — which is what got my attention.

Anyway, that’s why I’m not writing as much. I’m tired, and cranky, and I wish Dr. House would pay me a house call. (And that he took my insurance!)

  1. Maybe you’re just overworking. Take a couple of days and go visit friends. Whatever you need, take care of yourself.

  2. Stop blogging.
    It’s killing you, it’s obvious.
I’ve said this before and you just won’t listen.

  3. Loneliness, isolation, unrelenting bad news, anger, impending war? Endless winter? Physical and mental stress exhaustion. I myself am feeling so bad I can barely hold up my head. What are you eating? Try Ensure Clear. It’s not bad.

  4. I have learned firsthand that heart valve disease and sub-optimal heart output can cause tiredness and make it more difficult to build up endurance. Is that a possibility? I hope you feel better soon.

  5. It’s dealing with the idiotic antics of our stupid politicians, Suze. And, well, you know THAT can be as depressing as the general ignorance of climate change that exists today. As someone else said: TAKE A FEW DAYS OFF AND TELL THE WORLD TO go fuck itself! Believe me, Suze, you’ll fell a hell of a lot better……………….

  6. Yeah. Remember house calls?

(Or aren’t you that ancient? I remember one when I got the flu or something as a kid. I would’ve probably passed out if I’d had to get on a bus with my mother and spread my germs everywhere and go all the way to the doctor’s waiting room.)

Anyway, it’s easy to say “rest up,” but it’s harder to do. Maybe it’s this grand cross thingy you’ve been telling us about. :/

  7. Something new, maybe toxic in the house or neighborhood? Paint, mold, new asphalt, bug spray? Carbon monoxide? Maybe a massage therapist could locate a sore spot for a clue.
