‘I got it wrong’

Hillary Clinton Wins All In ‘Book Primary.’0

Hillary Clinton on her Iraq war vote:

Hillary Rodham Clinton, in her strongest language yet about her 2002 Senate vote to authorize military action in Iraq, writes in her forthcoming memoir that “I still got it wrong,” CBS News reported Thursday afternoon.

In “Hard Choices,” Clinton, a former secretary of state and former U.S. senator who is exploring a 2016 presidential campaign, writes: “(M)any Senators came to wish they had voted against the resolution. I was one of them. As the war dragged on, with every letter I sent to a family in New York who had lost a son or daughter, a father or mother, my mistake become (sic) more painful.”

Clinton continues, “I thought I had acted in good faith and made the best decision I could with the information I had. And I wasn’t alone in getting it wrong. But I still got it wrong. Plain and simple.”

CBS News obtained an early copy of Clinton’s book, not scheduled for release until next Tuesday, and published excerpts on its Web site Thursday afternoon. Clinton also writes about the Sept. 11, 2012, terror attacks in Benghazi, Libya, as well as the Obama administration’s attempts to secure freedom for Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, the Arab Spring, the Osama bin Laden raid and U.S. strategy in Afghanistan, Russia and Syria, according to CBS News.

  1. If you “get it wrong” on the issue of war and peace than you are not qualified to be the commander in chief. Ever. Even if you apologize after the fact. Because all of those dead soldiers can’t hear your belated apology and neither can any thinking human being. If you were really sorry Hillary, then you wouldn’t put all of us through another Clinton campaign for president.

  2. Bullshit hillary, you voted for the war for the same goddamned reason that bill crawled around the edges of the draft during ‘Nam. As he said in a letter, he wanted “to maintain my political viability within the system”. He wanted to be prez one day and knew he couldn’t come out a a draft resister and still be “viable”. Just like you want to be prez someday and had to vote for Bush the Stupid’s illegal and immoral war to maintain your viability.

    Fuck You!

Link to bill’s letter for anyone interested:

  3. It takes courage to admit a mistake. The vote was not for war, look it up. Clinton was representing NYC at the time – you know – the place that had just been dive-bombed by two airliners?

Grow up fellers – you will have a woman in the Oval Office someday. Get over it.

  4. “The vote was not for war, look it up. Clinton was representing NYC at the time – you know – the place that had just been dive-bombed by two airliners?”

The vote was to “Authorize the Use of Military Force” which was undisputedly inevitable.

New York wasn’t “dive bombed” by anyone having anything to do with Iraq or Saddam Hussein.

And thank you for the gratuitous and irrelevant anti-feminist swipe.

Nobody voting for that war should be in polite company let alone elected or confirmed to any office, not even dog catcher. It’s about issues, policy, and their consequences, not genitals. The correct move would have been to lead a movement opposing war in Iraq. Operative word: Lead. This was the darkest, most incompetent, and most shameful act of political will in living memory, and she was in a place to do something about it.

She has blood on her hands. I could never, ever vote for her. And if none of that makes a difference to you because “vagina!” you are an identity politics puppet or an unscrupulous person with the moral standing of a Dick Cheney.

  5. She also worked for an administration that has killed american citizens along with hundreds of the elderly, women and children in Iraq, Pakistan, Yemen all while looking only to kill a few terrorist leaders. Is she going to apologize for that too?

  6. Clinton also wanted a much larger “surge” in Afghanistan and she got her pal Gates at defense to back her up. She wanted Obama to bomb Syria. She was very upset when Obama would not prop up her friend the Egyptian dictator Mubarak. And on and on and on. The women is a menace to world peace. It gets very tiresome to be attacked by any female for being sexist because I oppose Clinton for president. Elizabeth Warren is my answer to that scurrilous charge.
