What a morning

breakfast

Let me put it this way: This is what I had for breakfast today.

It all started with the allergist appointment I have tomorrow. You know, the one where they stick you with all the stuff to see what you’re allergic to? They key thing is, you’re not allowed to take any antihistamines for five days before the visit. I knew it was going to be hard (mostly, I expected sinus headaches) but I thought I was mentally prepared.

But yesterday, I started sneezing and my nose started running. (This is highly unusual; I can’t even blow my nose under normal conditions.) By the time I went to bed, my eyes were red and swollen and my throat hurt. So was this a cold, or is this what my life would be like without allergy medication? Because I felt pretty awful. To be on the safe side, I took some elderberry extract and 1000 mg of Vitamin C.

Then a TMJ attack woke me up about 4 a.m. I got up, took some Aleve and finally fell asleep with my face on an ice pack.

So fuck it: Coke for breakfast. The best caffeine delivery system in the world!

  1. Part of what happens is that when you stop the drug the body overdoes it, compensating. So without the drugs your allergy symptoms probably wouldn’t be quite as bad as what you’ve been going through. Your body is overproducing histamines once the brakes are off. That part would taper off in time without any anti-allergens. You’d still have allergies and symptoms, but not necessarily that acute.

  2. My morning sucked too. First I……..oh never mind. From the Harvard School of Public Heath there’s this: 74% of Democrats like Obamacare (26% of us don’t). 30% of Democrats want full implementation of the law now and 44% want an expansion of the law (Medicare). Independents: 26% want the law expanded and 34% want it repealed. 56% of Republicans want the law repealed and 27% want it scaled back. 51% of the public hates Obamacare. 99% of those over 65 love Medicare. If there was ever an issue that the Democrats screwed the pooch on it was Obamacare. That was by design.

  3. The best caffeine delivery system in the world is Vietnamese iced coffee.
German Pepsi is also very good. (I had it on a train once, and it was the best cola I ever had.)

I hope you get better quickly.

  4. Local honey supposedly works for seasonal allergies. Take 1 teaspoon in 6-8 oz warm water. I boil water and let it cool a little bit.
