UPDATE: Suspect surrendered, now in custody.

For doing such a half-assed job of pushing the facts about Planned Parenthood accusations. Blood is also on your hands.

UPDATE:

At least four police officers and an “unknown number of civilians” were injured Friday in a shooting at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado Springs, Colo., as police hunted for the gunman and gunshots continued to ring out from the building hours after the ordeal began.

Just another violent male stamped off the right-wing paranoid assembly line?

At least three police officers have been injured in an ongoing active shooter situation at or near a Colorado Springs branch of Planned Parenthood on Friday afternoon.

Lt. Catherine Buckley, a Colorado Springs police spokeswoman, said she was still trying to confirm other details in the fluid situation.

“We still have a gunman that is out there,” she said.

A Colorado Springs police commander told The Gazette that at least three officers have been hurt. It is unclear whether there are more injuries or fatalities.

The city’s fire department tweeted about the situation about 11:45 a.m. The branch is located at 3480 Centennial Blvd., just north of West Fillmore Street.

“The area is NOT secure,” police said in a tweet.

“We were looking out the window and we had an officer wave us back inside,” said Brigitte Wolfe, who works Jun Japanese Restaurant next door. “They have everything blocked off.”

Wolfe said there are roughly a dozen police vehicles at the scene. She said officers have guns drawn and are facing the Planned Parenthood branch.

A photo from the scene showed officers in the area hiding behind their vehicles with their weapons drawn. SWAT officers have been called to the scene.

Colorado Springs police have shut down Centennial Boulevard between Garden of the Gods Road and Fillmore Street. Some businesses in the area are being evacuated. Patrons and workers at a nearby shopping center have been told to shelter in place.

  1. “a half-assed job of pushing the facts” Every post and every comment on this tragedy in the coming days should indict the media with just those words.

  2. This is the second mass shooting using military-style weapons in Colorado Springs in just four weeks. The state of Colorado allows open-carry of virtually any weapon (the consolidated city and county of Denver does not), there are no restrictions on concealed-carry licenses beyond demonstrating firearm proficiency.

After the theater shooting in Aurora, the legislature passed a law banning sales of magazines in the state with a capacity of greater than fifteen rounds ( ! ), but doesn’t say anything about larger magazines purchased out of state or by mail order, grandfathers in previous large magazines, and allows transfers between family members.

The kicker? 54 of 64 Colorado county sheriffs have joined a suit claiming the magazine law is unconstitutional on 2nd and 14th Amendment grounds. What else can one presume but that they’re stone fuckin’ crazy and/or they want more shootings to justify their budgets and the accretion of more federal cast-off military hardware?

The current count for this latest incident in Colorado Springs is three dead (one of whom was a UCCS campus policeman who responded to the police call) and nine wounded.
