Many, many, many gun owners are very stupid people.
A majority of them vote for Republicans.
But, there are two distinct issues here. One is the stupidity of gun owners and the other is the constitutional right to own a gun.
Do we have a right to own a gun?
The Supreme Court has said yes in dozens of cases.
So what legal restrictions can we apply through legislation to limit that right?
We have a few today. Having a criminal history and being mentally incompetent.
Can we limit the kinds of guns people buy?
Or the kinds and quantity of ammunition?
An outright ban on gun ownership ain’t gonna happen.
Not in the United States of America.
What we need to do is to limit violence across the board.
And we can begin by stopping our constant need to go to war and kill hundreds of thousands of people in foreign countries.
Our leaders can set a much better example by themselves being far less violent towards others.
If she was my mom, I woulda shot her too.
