How did that happen?
It wasn’t the Russians.
It was Robert Mercer (the Mercer family), Cambridge Analytica, Breitbart News and FOX.
Along with lots of right wing propaganda dished out liberally by extremists Steve Bannon, Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity and the rest of the conservative ideologues.
Fascist oligarch Robert Mercer hired Cambridge Analytica to do for Ted Cruz (his candidate) what they had done to get Brexit approved in England.
London based Cambridge Analytica used its proprietary algorithms to identify England’s disengaged, non-voters. People who could vote, but never did. Those were the voters who got Brexit passed.
CA did its job for the Cruz campaign in identifying these voters. It was then the job of Mercers Breitbart News to get these people to the polls and to vote for Cruz.
Instead they voted for Trump.
The Democratic Party helped their Republican opponents by offering up the perfect foil for Trump as their candidate.
Couple that with the fact that lots of Democrats didn’t like their candidate and didn’t vote Democratic and the fact that the Democratic Party was completely out of touch with the latest computer modeling techniques and available algorithms and it was game over.
The corrupt Russian oligarchs are no worse then the corrupt American oligarchs like Mercer, Koch, and Adelson. They should all be frog walked.
