I don’t believe for one minute they don’t want to impeach. They are just trying to game it out so impeachment has the best chance of success:

We have to start from the premise that our fearless leaders know things that we don’t.
In this case impeaching Trump would be the worst possible solution to our problems.
Cohen said as much yesterday when he told us that Trump wouldn’t leave the White House without a fight even if he was defeated in 2020.
Can you imagine what this fool would do if they tried to remove him from office after he was impeached?
The best course of action is to allow the Southern District of NY charge him with provable crimes like larceny, fraud, and income tax evasion and then frog march him out of the oval office.
Even the “enemy of the people” the Republicans would have a hard time spinning that.
Nancy Pelosi can do basic math and knows that there are not and will never be 67 votes to remove in the senate as long as there are 34 Republicans there who fear for their jobs should they vote that way.
She will impeach him if it becomes the undeniable right thing to do in its own right, regardless what the senate does.
And he can try to resist the transfer of power if he likes, but I doubt it would go well for him. In fact, that’s one of the only scenarios I can think of that would result in his actual incarceration.
Cohen goes to prison for lying to Congress and lying to the FBI. Several close Trump associates are also facing prison time for the same crimes – lying to protect Trump. Every time another domino falls over the Trump supporters cheer because – No Collusion.
Why are the Trump supporters not curious about what all the liars are covering up? So many lies to protect Trump – but protect him from what? Collusion with Russia in election fraud? Money laundering for the Russian mob? Or something worse? Why would Stone/ Manafort/ Flynn/ Cohen all risk prison by lying to cover up Trump’s crimes?
And what kind of twisted logic does it take for Trump supporters to claim that, because all of the charges have been for perjury and obstruction [to protect Trump], that this means Trump must be innocent? If he had nothing to hide, they wouldn’t all be lying.
